Pottery Barn x Michael Graves

Michael Graves Design - 2024

The Pottery Barn x Michael Graves Design lineup is a collaborative furniture project that combines principles in accessibility with thoughtful and beautiful design. In this project, we redesigned existing Pottery Barn original lineups, as well as introduced several original designs- all with a focus in accessibility.

Each furniture piece from the collection incorporates integrated accessibility functions, ranging from added touchpoints and handles, to CPAP machine support. Each of the furniture pieces were designed to comply with ADA regulations, taking into consideration wheelchair clearance and hardware dimensions.

Additionally, all of the accessible features were designed to merge seamlessly with the aesthetics of the furniture, meaning most individuals would likely never notice the features upon first glance- hence the motto, “Quietly Accessible”. And yet, the features were intuitively designed in a way so that individuals using the features would need no guidance or prior teaching.
